Michael Ray Escamilla
Biography
Both an accomplished stage and screen actor, Michael Ray has appeared opposite Robert Duvall in A Night In Old Mexico, alongside Laura Linney in Showtime's The Big C, was part of an ensemble cast that included Ed Harris, Eva Longoria & Michael Peña in Frontera, and Hot Pursuit with Reese Witherspoon and Sofía Vergara. He is the recipient of the Kennedy Center's Helen Hayes Award for his performance in Craig Wright's Recent Tragic Events at Woolly Mammoth Theater, as well as an Obie Award for his performance in Tale of Two Cities by Heather Woodbury at PS 122 in New York City. Michael Ray, co-wrote/co-directed/and starred in Cuzando, in which he won The Grand Jury Prize for Best Actor Award at the San Antonio Film Festival and has been selected for several international and national film festivals including Mexico International Film Festival where the film received the Silver Palm Award (the award is given to films that demonstrate standout filmmaking), and Best Narrative Award from Athens International Film Festival. Cruzando has been picked up by Vanguard Entertainment and is currently released. He has performed a variety of versatile roles in numerous Broadway and Off- Broadway theaters throughout New York City including The Lincoln Center Theater, The Public Theater, Labyrinth Theater Company, Second Stage Theater, Intar, PS 122 and Rattlestick Playwrights Theater. He continues to write and create music with the band AndSomeone.
