Peter Kassovitz

Born in Budapest, he saw his parents taken away to a concentration camp when he was 5. Hidden by a Catholic family, he met his parents after the war (who surprisingly survived the camps). During the Hungarian revolution in 1956, he moved to Paris where he worked as an assistant camera operator and a cameraman. He began directing in 1959.
